PAWTUCKET – Hasbro, the Pawtucket School Department and the city of Pawtucket are partnering with No Bully, a non-profit organization that trains schools how to stop bullying.

The partnership will be formally announced at a press conference at the R.I. Convention Center on Monday.
According to information from Hasbro, Pawtucket will be celebrated as the first city in New England to adopt the program throughout its district and declare itself a “bully free” city. The program is being made possible through Hasbro.

The press conference will feature remarks from School Department Superintendent Patti DiCenso, Hasbro Senior Vice President of Global Philanthropy & Social Impact Karen Davis, No Bully Founder Nicholas Carlisle, Pawtucket Mayor Donald R. Grebien, U.S. Rep. David N. Cicilline and R.I. Department of Education Commissioner Ken Wagner.

The No Bully System features a step-by-step process and set of interventions designed to prevent and stop bullying in schools. It will be implemented throughout the 2015 to 2016 school year in all 17 of Pawtucket’s schools. More than 800 teachers will be trained on how to recognize and interrupt student bullying.
The No Bully website said that independent studies of the system show that schools trained in the system remedy bullying in more than 90 percent of cases, and remains true after a three-month follow up.
