PAWTUCKET – Toy maker Hasbro Inc. has come under fire by parents who are upset that the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain set looks like a penis.

Now, the nation’s No. 3 toymaker is changing the play set, after angry parents took to Twitter and flooded the company’s Play-Doh Facebook page with pictures and messages, which have since been taken down.

One Twitter user went so far to say that the toy “ruined” Christmas.
Some of the comments posted on Twitter to Play-Doh:
Nini Delmoral: “What was the concept of this? Why couldn’t this be in another form or shape?”
Jennifer Turner: “This is NOT okay. This completely ruined our Christmas because my daughters LOVE play-doh …”
The tool has been widely mocked on the Internet, with some Twitter users using the hash tag #dil doh.
One Twitter user on Wednesday morning said the parents are to blame. “You bought it, you see things. For the kids its just a play doh dispenser.”
The company posted a message on its Play-Doh Facebook page in response to the complaints about the extruder tool included in the $19.99 set. It generated 4,883 likes, and nearly 5,000 comments.
The message reads: “We have heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain playset and are in the process of updating all future Play-Doh products with a different tool. Should any consumer want a replacement extruder for this item, they can contact Hasbro’s Customer Service Department at 800-327-8264.”
A company spokeswoman said requests for replacement extruders also can be made by visiting hasbro.com/corporate/en_US/consumer-care/.
