PROVIDENCE – Hasbro Children’s Hospital recently opened a new suite of pediatric operating rooms after an $800,000 renovation project.
The five operating rooms and a video endoscopy room were outfitted with significant upgrades that allow for completely hard-wired interface and digital projection using an innovative “boom” technology.
The renovation project, made possible by the Children’s Miracle Network, allows the hospital to offer advanced endoscopic surgery, enhanced neurosurgical procedures, and better patient and staff flow.
“As our surgical cases have grown exponentially over the years, and minimally invasive surgery has added the need for imaging equipment in the [operating room], we realized we needed to find a way to maximize our space and capabilities,” said Dr. Thomas F. Tracy Jr., pediatric surgeon-in-chief at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. “This solution allows each operating room a smaller footprint, easier access for staff and offers a much better teaching facility – all without needing to tear down a single wall.”
