Hasbro radiothon nets $611K

PROVIDENCE – Donations during the eight annual Hasbro Children’s Hospital Radiothon totaled $611,312 for the two-day fundraiser held earlier this month.
“I am enormously grateful to all the individuals, families, and businesses that have supported this amazing event,” said Timothy J. Babineau, president and CEO of Rhode Island Hospital. “Year after year, their generosity reaffirms in the most powerful of ways just how crucial Hasbro Children’s Hospital is to the health and well being of all the communities we serve.”
More than 40 children with varying medical issues took part in the fundraiser by sharing their stories via the radio.
The annual fundraiser is broadcast in partnership with Providence Cumulus radio stations, Hasbro Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network hospitals.
Since its inception, the event has raised over $5 million that has been put toward treating children in the region and to fund HCH research.
HCH is the pediatric division of Rhode Island Hospital, which is the principal teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.
