PAWTUCKET – Hasbro Inc. has earned a spot on CR Magazine’s “100 Best Corporate Citizens” list for the second consecutive year, this year moving into the top 10, at No. 7.
The iconic toy and game maker, which earned the No. 23 spot on the 2012 list, was recognized for its increasing transparency regarding its corporate-social-responsibility efforts. They include: product safety, environmental sustainability, manufacturing efforts and philanthropy.
In prepared remarks, Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s president and CEO, said his company was “proud” to be honored for the second consecutive year for leadership and advancements. “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our employees around the world, and the strides we’re making in helping to build a safe and sustainable world for future generations,” said Goldner.
Joining Hasbro in the top 10 were: AT&T Inc. (No. 1), Mattel Inc. (No. 2), Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (No. 3), Eaton Corp. (No. 4), Intel Corp. (No. 5), Gap Inc. (No. 6), Merck & Co. Inc. (No. 8), Campbell Soup Co. (No. 9) and Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (No. 10).
In a release announcing the recognition, Hasbro outlined the highlights of its recent CSR efforts, which include:
“This recognition builds on the leadership distinction Hasbro has received from several prestigious organizations over recent years,” said the Hasbro release. The company was recognized in March as one of the “2013 World’s Most Ethical Companies” by global business-ethics think tank the Ethisphere Institute.
