PROVIDENCE – Toy company Hasbro Inc. plans to open an office at 15 LaSalle Square in downtown Providence.

Elected officials and company executives are expected to announce the office at a news conference Monday afternoon.

The building once housed the offices of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island. It has stood vacant since the health insurer moved into its new headquarters near the Providence train station in 2009.

The announcement comes the same day that Hasbro reported a $58.1 million profit for the second quarter.

In April, the R.I. Economic Development Corporation granted Hasbro up to a $1.63 million tax break if the company created 281 local full-time jobs in the state over the next three years.
