The 15th Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival took place Aug. 9-14 across the state, and it received a record 4,537 submissions from filmmakers in 60 countries. Winner of the grand prize for the best short film was “Sailcloth,” starring British actor John Hurt. By virtue of its win, the film will be considered for an Academy Award in the short film category.
The festival is an important stop along the way to Oscar wins for many films, and it attracts many cinephiles. But have you ever attended any of the events that RIIFF puts on?
