Her mother taught first grade in Connecticut for 40 years. Her father was a gym teacher for more than 40 years. Katherine Graham-Leviss says that with that background it was inevitable that she would be an overachiever. She was president of her high school class and in 2002 started her own company, XB Coaching, before changing the name to XB Consulting to reflect her growing product line.
Graham-Leviss and her team of 10 employees provide training, consulting and workshops to help businesses get the right people on the job and retain them. She also developed a measurement system, XCInSight, designed to analyze whether a person is right for a job. It is now used in 30 industries, she says.
PBN: Why did you form XB Consulting?
GRAHAM-LEVISS: LEVISS: Because I felt there was a need in developing a system to help companies put the right people in the right jobs. Earlier on in my career I began to observe what made people good hires and what made people bad hires and I believe that companies would be more successful if they reduce turnover of their employees. So in my last consulting job I saw what it would take to replace people in time and money and the best way to reduce turnover is hire the right person. So I developed a system that helps companies evaluate whether the potential hire would be a good fit for the company and a good fit for the job.
PBN: What does your company do and why is there a need for it?
GRAHAM-LEVISS: LEVISS: My company is a talent-development company. Our area of expertise is focused on leadership and sales so we help companies put the right people in the right jobs. In addition to that, we provide training and executive coaching. … We get CEOs ready for their job, we get senior leaders ready for their jobs.
