Health Concepts Ltd. wins second place in Pink Glove Dance Video competition

PROVIDENCE – Health Concepts, Ltd., has won second place in the 4th annual national Pink Glove Dance Video competition.
The company won a $5,000 award to donate to their breast cancer charity of choice in the Standalone Healthcare Provider category, one of three in the contest.
Health Concepts’ 90-second video was produced in honor of Pamela Bibeault, a long term care nurse and clinical quality consultant to Rhode Island’s skilled nursing community who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. In the video, more than 300 Health Concepts employees and volunteers danced in pink gloves along with Bibeault in various locations throughout the state.
“Every time I watch the video, I am filled with emotion,” said Karen Morin, an administrator at Elmwood Health Center. “This experience really brought us together as a team for an important cause.”
Medline Industries, Inc. – the creator of the YouTube-sensation Pink Glove Dance, and a global healthcare supply company that supplies pink exam gloves – sponsored the competition. The contest is intended to unite clinicians, survivors and communities to celebrate hope for a cure for breast cancer, and to honor those affected by the disease through the joy of dance.
“Congratulations to Health Concepts, who made an amazing video that honors the hundreds of thousands diagnosed each year with breast cancer, as well as honoring the caregivers, who so passionately care for those battling this disease,” said Sue MacInnes, Medline’s chief market solutions officer and co-founder of the Pink Glove Dance.
“And for the thousands of dancers participating this year, we thank you for reminding those who are facing cancer that they are not alone and have the support of their entire community,” she said.
Health Concepts, which has 12 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers throughout the state, earned nearly 26,671 votes during the dance competition, just 190 votes behind first place. The company also raised more than $11,000 for the American Cancer Society as part of their participation in the competition.
Other winners in the Standalone Healthcare Provider category included: Greater Baltimore Medical Center, first place; and Byron Health Center & Breast Diagnostic Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., third place. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in California won the grand prize for having the most overall votes in the Medline Pink Glove Dance competition, as well as winning first place in the Health System category.
Medline donates a portion of each sale of its Generation Pink exam gloves to the National Breast Cancer Foundation to help save lives through early detection and to provide mammograms and support services for those in need.
