Health care showcase to promote health care innovation in R.I.

PROVIDENCE – Academic and medical institutions around the state are collaborating to host the Rhode Island Healthcare Showcase for the exchange of ideas on health care and public health, with a focus on the aging population. Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Rhode Island are working with Lifespan and the Care New England Health System to host the conference Oct. 15.
The showcase will provide “a unique opportunity to engage and debate on topical issues in health care, accelerate commercialization and innovation, align regional health care expertise, stimulate networking, and strengthen the transactional bridge that will bring research and discovery to the marketplace,” according to its website.
Participants will discuss innovations in the practice of health care, including the impact of information technologies such as genome sequencing on personalized medicine. The aim is to generate new initiatives by providing a space for researchers, entrepreneurs and investors to network.
