HealthSource RI: Enrollment tops 31K

PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI said 31,012 individuals are enrolled in 2016 health insurance coverage as of Nov. 21, paid and unpaid, and that nearly all of them are current HSRI enrollees that were auto-renewed.
That marks an increase of 1.1 percent since the first week of open enrollment that ended Nov. 7. Open enrollment will continue through Jan. 31 for individuals and families, according to the health insurance exchange.
Small employers can enroll at their renewal date, regardless of where it falls during the calendar year.
Medicaid-eligible individuals also can enroll throughout the year.
According to HealthSource RI, 920 individuals have selected a plan for 2016 coverage and are new to the exchange this year or are returning after being enrolled at some point during a prior year.
Of those who have enrolled, 54 percent are female and 46 percent are male. The majority are 55 and older at 29 percent, followed by the 45 to 54 age group at 22 percent. Only 14 percent of those enrolled so far are not receiving any type of financial assistance.
The most popular carrier is Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island at 53 percent, followed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island at 43 percent and UnitedHealthcare at 4 percent.
In addition, 2,166 small employer accounts were created as of Nov. 21, with 746 small employer applications completed.
To date, HSRI’s contact center has received 31,024 phone calls, and its website at healthsourceri.com has received 46,192 unique visitors, 67,394 visits and 122,767 page views.
