HealthSource plans enrollment assistance events

PROVIDENCE – HealthSource RI will host enrollment assistance events in February to help Rhode Islanders sign up for coverage through the state’s health benefits exchange.
Several events were to be held this week, but were canceled due to the expected blizzard.
HealthSource representatives also will educate Rhode Islanders who purchase insurance through HealthSource about tax credits to make monthly premiums more affordable.
The tax credits, potentially available to individuals making up to $46,680 a year and families of four making up to $95,400 a year, can be applied immediately to reduce the monthly premium, not as an end-of-year tax refund. Depending on income and family size, some Rhode Islanders may qualify for low-cost or no-cost insurance coverage through Medicaid.
The open enrollment period ends Feb. 15. The enrollment assistance events are geared toward individuals and families, as small business representatives can call the business engagement team at (855) 683-6757 to set up an appointment.
Those who attend an event should bring last year’s tax information, social security numbers or immigration documents, information about current health insurance and names of doctors they want to keep.
Events planned for Monday and Tuesday have been canceled due to the winter storm, and other sessions planned for Wednesday have been rescheduled.
The Wednesday session at the Peace Dale Library, 1057 Kingstown Road, in South Kingstown has been rescheduled to Feb. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A presentation will be held from 11-11:30 a.m., followed by enrollment help from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Another session planned for Wednesday at the Brownell Library, 44 Commons in Little Compton, also has been rescheduled to Feb. 3, with a presentation from 2-2:30 p.m., and enrollment from 2:30-5 p.m.
