Hearn resolution would ?grant Polaris $750K

PROVIDENCE – Rep. Joy Hearn, D-Barrington, has introduced a resolution that would grant $750,000 to the Polaris Manufacturing Extension Partnership.

The nonprofit organization, a business unit of the University of Rhode Island Research Foundation, has been providing improvement solutions to more than 750 manufacturers in Rhode Island. The resolution would match the funds Polaris is currently receiving on a yearly basis from the federal government. Polaris would use the money to develop programs to help the industry become more competitive and innovative.

According to Hearn, Rhode Island is one of only three states not to provide state funding to its manufacturing extension partnership.
