Helping firms stay engaged

The small business that ignores social media is closing the door to potential customers.

But finding time to maintain a social media presence can be a challenge for overworked managers and owners, who already wear many hats.

That’s where Busy Seed has created a niche. The Providence-based company, which started taking clients in April, has three social media packages for small businesses.

Owned by Omar Jenblat, Busy Seed manages social media for businesses on sites, including Facebook, Google Plus and Yelp. Costs range from $199 to $349 a month.

Why does it matter? If you aren’t active on social media, potential customers may never find you. If you don’t respond to negative comments, people may not give you a chance.

“You can almost think of it like customer service. People want to be engaged online,” said Jenblat. •
