Historic house tours slated

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Preservation Society will hold its 2016 Festival of Historic Houses on June 11, showcasing private residences in the North Benefit Street neighborhood.
The tour runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and offers attendees an opportunity to step inside historic properties and learn about their original inhabitants, according to the Preservation Society.
The preserved buildings in the neighborhood date to the late 18th century, and also include early 19th century structures. The homes display architecture of the late Colonial era and early Federal style. Victorian houses and Colonial Revival additions also are on the tour.
More than a dozen houses and gardens are on the tour. For more details, visit www.ProvidenceHouseTour.com. Advance tickets are $35 for PPS members and $45 for nonmembers.
