Home & Hospice Care named among U.S. best

PROVIDENCE – Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island has been named a 2013 Hospice Honors recipient, recognizing the agency as one of the nation’s top 100 hospice agencies providing the best patient care, the agency announced on May 20.
The award, given annually by Deyta LLC, a firm specializing in data-driven management in the health care and quality measurement, is based upon 2012 results of the Family Evaluation of Hospice survey conducted with more than 1,200 hospice agencies.
“We are beyond thrilled that Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island has received the ‘Top 100’ award and is now included among the best hospices throughout the country for family satisfaction,” said Diana Franchitto, president and CEO of Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island.
With more than 5,000 hospices in the country, Franchitto continued, her agency is recognized as a leader in family satisfaction. “This award means that families rank Home & Hospice Care at the very top when it comes to keeping them informed of their loved one’s care, recommending us to others, responding to the needs of their loved ones and having the confidence in us to do what was needed to care for their loved ones,” she said.
Hospice Honors awards defines a new standard of excellence in the patient/family experience for hospice agencies, according to Liz Silva, director of Hospice at Deyta. “Identifying these top-performing hospices is our way of recognizing organizations that have demonstrated high quality of care to both patients and caregivers,” Silva said. “That positive family experience is a key driver of ongoing patient-focused care and overall agency success.”
The award was presented at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Management and Leadership Conference, which took place at the end of April in National Harbor, Md.
