WASHINGTON – Sales of single family homes across the U.S. were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 343,000 in April, according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Sales rose 9.9 percent year-over-year from the 2011 estimate of 312,000 and 3.3 percent from March 2012’s estimate of 332,000.
The average sales price of a new house was $282,600 and the seasonally adjusted estimate of new houses for sale at the end of April was 146,000.
