How big an impact will the Interlink – the new train/bus/auto transportation hub at T.F. Green airport – have on your life?

Posted 10/18/10

Last week Gov. Donald L. Carcieri, as well as other officials from the Ocean State and representatives from Massachusetts and the MBTA, signed the agreement that will bring commuter rail south from Providence to Warwick, to the just completed Interlink intermodal air/rail/bus/auto transportation hub.

The station has the potential to create a new commuter class, people who take the train from Warwick and environs into Providence along with stops further north. And when twinned with the expected extension of the runway at T.F. Green Airport, it has the potential to move more people out into the region by public transportation means.

The real question is just how much of that potential will be realized? Only time will tell, but you can share your own thoughts by voting.

I answered that it would affect me, but that is only because I only live 15 minutes from the airport. I've used other airports who have the consolidated rental car garages and think this will make PVD much more attractive and accessible to tourists and business travelers alike.

(yup, that was supposed to say "wouldn't" affect me.)

Since the train station parking lot in Providence is always full, dingy and in poor repair, I'm more likely to use the airport location for commuting trips into Boston.

The improvement that will affect me the most will be the opening of the new station at Wickford Junction, as I live in South County and frequently have to travel to our Boston office on business.

I really can't select any of the answers. I plan to use it, but to travel occasionally to Boston.
