PROVIDENCE – The I-195 Redevelopment Commission has created and filled a new position focused on project management, marketing and planning.

Caroline Edwards on Jan. 18 was named vice president and senior project manager for the commission, reporting to Executive Director Peter McNally.

Edwards, most recently a vice president at the R.I. Commerce Corp., will be responsible for managing individual projects, such as the construction of the 1,300-space garage to accommodate the I-195 district, or the buildout of various parks on or near commission land, according to the job description.

As vice president, she also will be expected to develop and execute a local and national outreach plan to attract corporate users and developers to the district, which includes 19 acres of developable land in Providence.
