LONDON - IE Business School, the Madrid-based member of a broad-based partnership with Brown University, earned a spot on the Financial Time’s 2013 Global MBA Ranking.

IE Business’s spot dropped from No. 8 on the 2011 and 2012 lists to 11 on the 2013 ranking.

Ahead of IE, United States schools dominated the top 10, taking up six spots. Schools from the United Kingdom, France, Spain and China earned the other four spots on the top 10 list.

Harvard Business School, Stanford Graduate School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania: Wharton earned the top three spots on the list, respectively.

The IE Brown Executive MBA is a 15-month MBA program designed to combine IE’s strength in interdisciplinary management education and Brown’s excellence in humanities, social, biological and physical sciences.

According to the Brown website, the program provides senior managers with the opportunity to develop and broaden management and leadership skills in an intensive, international environment.

The MBA program brings together faculty from IE and Brown and integrates management thinking with wider perspectives from the humanities, social sciences, engineering and life sciences.

The Financial Times calculates their rankings based on survey responses from faculty and alumni. The alumni responses, which include salaries earned after graduation, account for more than half of a school’s score.

According to a release, the 2013 rankings were based on responses from 155 universities in 28 countries.
