IYRS, Salve reach transfer agreement

NEWPORT – The IYRS School of Technology & Trade and Salve Regina University entered into an articulation agreement this fall for transfers of elective credits.
Under the agreement, IYRS students who wish to complete a bachelor’s degree can transfer elective credits into any undergraduate program offered at Salve Regina’s Newport campus or at the Center for Adult Education in Warwick.
As many as 17 elective credits may be transferred from IYRS programs in composite technology and marine systems, and up to 37 credits may be transferred in boatbuilding and restoration.
“This is a major step forward in the growing partnership between Salve Regina and IYRS,” said Scott Zeman, Salve Regina’s provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Terry Nathan, IYRS president, said the agreement provides still more validation that though IYRS remains focused on experiential education, there is strong, growing support for this brand of learning in the education community at large. •
