Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee admitted at the last R.I. Economic Development Corporation meeting that he was having trouble finding community leaders to join its board of the directors, which has seen membership from its 13 mandated members to five.
The governor placed much of the blame for the challenge in finding volunteers to the lingering effects of the 38 Studios LLC implosion, although it is likely that his decision to sue EDC staff as well as 38 Studios executives and others over the deal has had a damping effect on recruitment efforts as well.
Would you join the EDC board if the governor asked you to serve?
