EAST PROVIDENCE – Imperial Pearl, an importer of pearls and a designer of fine jewelry, recently announced it has invested more than $1 million to install solar panels at its East Providence headquarters. The conversion will cover the full cost of its electrical needs at the facility, according to a company news release.
The headquarters includes offices, showrooms, a design studio, manufacturing space, inventory storage and an international shipping facility. Company officials said they expect to eliminate the property’s $6,000 monthly electrical bill as a result.
The R.I. Commerce Corporation recently recognized the work and awarded the company a $200,000 grant, according to the release. The project also qualifies for a federal tax credit that should cover one-third of its cost.
