Tuesday, March 5, will be contest night at Ocean State Toastmasters, which meets from 7 to 9 at Warwick City Hall, 3275 Post Road.
Come and watch Toastmasters who have been honing and practicing their public speaking skills compete with each other in a contest that culminates with the World Championship of Public Speaking.
Two contests will be held that night. One is the International Speech Contest, which moves through various levels until it culminates with the World Championship of Public Speaking at Toastmasters International Convention in August. The other is a Table Topics contest, in which Toastmasters speak impromptu, without knowing the topic in advance. The public is invited to both contests.
Ocean State Toastmasters is one of some 13,500 clubs in Toastmasters International, a nonprofit, educational organization devoted to the development of public speaking and leadership skills. The organization has some 280,000 members in 116 countries.
