TAUNTON – Dublin-based Imperative Energy Ltd. is eyeing a potential $10 million facility in Taunton as it continues its U.S. market expansion. Imperative, founded in 2007, is a major producer of biomass heat and power throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The proposed “Bio-Park” in Taunton will incorporate a biomass-fired, combined heat and power, wood pellet production facility and biopharma facility. Imperative said it plans to model the plant after a similar facility in County Mayo, Ireland.

A detailed feasibility study has already been initiated for the $10 million Taunton project, according to the company.

The Taunton facility is the first of two U.S. expansion projects for Imperative. The company also signed an agreement to offer biomass energy solutions to industrial and commercial customers with Lynnwood, Wash.-based Northline Energy.
