AMICA Insurance has once again received top honors for the New England region in the J.D. Power 2016 U.S. Auto Insurance StudySM. / COURTESY AMICA MUTUAL INSURANCE CO.

LINCOLN – J.D. Power for the fourth consecutive year has named Amica Mutual Insurance Co. as New England’s top ranking automobile insurance company for customer satisfaction.
Amica received a score of 855 out of a 1,000-point scale, which is 60 points higher than the regional average. Rankings are based on interaction, policy offerings, price, billing process and policy information and claims. This is the 17th year in row J.D. Power has recognized Amica for satisfaction with auto insurers.
“We’re so proud to once again receive this honor from J.D. Power,” said Robert A. DiMuccio, chairman, president and CEO of Amica. “I’d like to thank all of our employees for their constant hard work and dedication. Without them, awards like this would not be possible.”
As a whole, the nation’s largest auto insurers are driving down overall industry satisfaction, as customers are reacting negatively to “the perception of price increases,” according to the J.D. Power 2016 Auto Insurance Study released earlier this year.
Overall satisfaction declined 7 points to 811 from 2015, realized predominantly among the nation’s 17 largest insurers. Satisfaction among smaller insurers increased 1 point from 2015, according to the report.
“The overall decline is largely influenced by a 3-point decrease in price satisfaction, which is attributable to a year-over-year 2 percentage point decline in the percentage of customers who say they have not experienced a premium increase in the past 12 months. However, the perception among some customers is that they have had an insurer-initiated increase, even though they have not experienced a specific incident or life change that could account for the price hike,” according to the report.
