JWU student earns culinary medallion

WARWICK – Geoffrey Lanez, a student at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, was one of five chefs awarded a president’s medallion from the American Culinary Federation.
The awards were issued April 12 at the ACF Northeast Regional Conference held at Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick between April 11-14.
The medallions are presented to food-service professionals who exemplify culinary excellence and leadership, and helped advance the culinary profession.
Other winners included: Americo DiFronzo, executive chef, Union Oyster House, Boston; Michael Roddey, owner/chef consultant, Gastronomic Services & Consulting, Duncansville, Pa.; Robert Milam, chef instructor, Boone Career-Technical Center, Danville, W.Va.; and Scott Ryan, executive chef, The Country Club, Pepper Pike, Ohio. •
