PROVIDENCE – Public housing residents in two Providence neighborhoods may qualify for job training and work readiness programs, as well as employment placement services, through a federal grant announced by U.S. Sen. Jack F. Reed on Monday.
The nearly $3 million Jobs Plus grant will help residents of Hartford Park and Manton Heights access training and placement services, according to a news release.
The Providence Housing Authority was among six housing agencies in the U.S. to receive the competitively awarded grant, according to the release.
The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It will allow the Providence Housing Authority to implement the Jobs Plus Providence initiative at the Hartford Park and Manton Heights family housing developments.
Over a four-year period, the residents will access a comprehensive program that is designed to increase family earnings and advance employment possibilities, according to the release.
