Why did you select your profession?
My mother suggested I try accounting [at URI] (she’s a CPA). … After taking that class, I was sold on the fact that public accounting would be a great way to start my career.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
Retired. Seriously though, I see myself continuing my career at KLR.

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever been given?
Short-term satisfaction does not yield long-term results.

What advice would you give your 22-year-old self?
Build strong networks and to stay in the driver’s seat of your career. You are the only one who has your best interests in mind.

What is your favorite escape or hobby?
Spending time on the water with my girls and my wife.

How do you keep a work-life balance?
I try to … focus on my family when I’m home. I also try to limit networking to every other night during the week.

What one thing in your professional life would you like a do-over on?
Early in my career, I made a comment at a staff meeting that was off base and out of line. … If I could do it over, I still would have made the comment, but in the proper setting. •
