BOSTON – The board of directors of John Hancock Financial Services has voted to authorize a stock buyback through which the company could purchase up to $500 million of its outstanding common shares. The company in a statement said it will make purchases “from time to time, depending on market conditions, business opportunities, and other factors” However, the company is under no obligation buy back any of the allocated amount of shares.
