PROVIDENCE – Boulder, Colo.-based SendGrid was described as “one of the most successful tech startups of the past decade,” by Geek Dinner organizer Jack Templin.

The email delivery service, which helps clients send more than seven billion emails per month, has a new research and development arm called SendGrid Labs based in Providence.

Native Rhode Islander and technology Mike Rowan plans to tell meetup participants why he chose Rhode Island as his base of operation and describe what he thinks is to come for the city.

Providence Geeks is a monthly meetup of Rhode Island’s info-tech and digital media professionals and enthusiasts.

The June meetup will take place Wednesday, June 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the AS200 in Providence. Attendance is free, though food and drink are not.
