June Geeks dinner to feature Xact Maps

PROVIDENCE – For their June meetup, the Providence Geeks will host Xact Maps, a Providence company specializing in high-fidelity aerial mapping using unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones.
Xact Maps’ technology combines their own custom high-performance aircraft and proprietary software with an array of high-end sensor technology, including LIDAR, photogrametry, photo mosaic, multispectral imaging and IR imaging.
According to the company’s website, this capability allows Xact Maps to collect data from previously unreachable locations and create highly accurate data maps and 3-D renderings, which can be put to use for diverse tasks such as surveying, forensics, construction and engineering, projection mapping, and geological or agricultural imaging.
Xact Maps founders Andy Trench and Kyla Coburn will join the Providence Geeks this week to tell the Xact Maps story, demonstrate how their technology works and give a sneak peek at where they are headed next.
The June meetup will take place on Wednesday, June 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the AS220 in Providence. The event is free, but attendees buy their own food and drink.
