Junior Achievement gets $14K grant

PROVIDENCE – Junior Achievement of Rhode Island, a nonprofit dedicated to helping young people own their economic futures, has received a $14,875 Travelers Foundation grant to support middle school education programs.

“This grant will help Junior Achievement continue to provide youth in Rhode Island with the skills they need to survive, thrive and contribute to our state and regional economy,” said Lee Lewis, Junior Achievement of Rhode Island president, in a statement.

The grant will be used to expand the nonprofit’s middle school programs, which build on concepts learned in Junior Achievement’s elementary school programs and focus on helping teens prepare to make decisions about their educational and professional future.

The programs supplement standard social studies curriculum and develop communication skills students can later use in the business world.

Travelers Foundation is the charitable arm of The Travelers Companies Inc., a provider of property casualty insurance for auto, home and business.
