KVH introduces second-generation mini-VSAT Broadband

MIDDLETOWN – KVH Industries Inc. will unveil the second-generation of its mini-VSAT broadband, which it said will transform the maritime satellite communications system market by delivering data at the highest speeds and at lower prices than previous airtime plans, on Oct. 1.
KVH said that the expanded service includes rugged, reliable antennas and other hardware, as well as flexible airtime options and entertainment content from a single global provider.
“Other satellite communications providers respond to increasing broadband demand by simply increasing airtime rates. We knew there was a better solution,” Martin Kits van Heyningen, CEO of KVH, said in a statement. “We provide maritime customers with affordable, usage-based plans at the data speeds they need to take advantage of new cloud-based applications for improving operational efficiency – and we give them the tools they need for bandwidth management by user and vessel.”
Features of the mini-VSAT broadband 2.0 solution include new airtime rate plans, a network management portal, a support program and news and sports content packages.
Kits van Heyningen said the new broadband product “is the only complete satellite communications solution that helps maritime enterprises meet their complex operational requirements, while providing affordable communications and engaging content for their onboard personnel.”
