KVH kicks off maritime connectivity conference series

MIDDLETOWN – Trends in connectivity, “big data” and training will be the topics of a 2015 Maritime Connectivity Conference Series launched today by KVH Industries in Cyprus.

KVH, a provider of in-motion satellite TV and communications systems, said in a news release that presentations from experts in connectivity and content delivery, maritime training, voyage optimization and electronic chart data access will be given, as well as options for addressing entertainment for crews.

“With the exploding demand for broadband at sea coupled with the challenges of controlling costs in a competitive market, commercial maritime operators are exploring the best resources for leveraging modern satellite communications services to improve their fleet operations,” Martin Kits van Heyningen, KVH CEO, said in a statement. “By bringing together industry experts in key ports worldwide, we hope there will be a good exchange of information so operators can take action.”

The series is geared at maritime professionals, including ship masters, fleet operators, personnel and manning professionals, fleet managers and maritime IT and communications professionals.

Following Cyprus, three more events in the 2015 Maritime Connectivity Conference Series are scheduled in May: Copenhagen, Denmark (May 13); Singapore (May 15); and Seattle (May 19). Five additional events are planned for late 2015 in Germany, Greece, Norway, Hong Kong and New Orleans.
