KVH reaches milestone, ships 200,000th mobile satellite antenna

MIDDLETOWN – KVH Industries Inc. recently set a milestone in the mobile satellite marketplace by shipping its 200,000th mobile satellite antenna.

The antennas include KVH’s TracPhone line of satellite communications antenna systems for broadband access at sea, and the company’s TracVision line of satellite television receive-only antenna systems.

KVH said the two product lines provide reliable connectivity as well as access to satellite television programming for thousands of commercial vessels, pleasure yachts, first responders and recreational vehicles worldwide. For example, the TracPhone V-P series allows seafarers in the middle of the ocean to communicate with their families, yacht owners to stay connected to their onshore life and fleets of U.S. Coast Guard and government vessels to maintain critical communications, a news release from KVH said.

“We are tremendously proud to have surpassed the 200,000 antenna milestone and see it as a testament to our innovation and our pioneering efforts in bringing a new generation of connectivity and entertainment solutions to mobile users,” Martin Kits van Heyningen, KVH’s CEO, said in a statement. “In a world that is ever more focused on broadband connectivity and instant access to news and entertainment, KVH has set the pace for providing products and services that people count on whether they are on land or at sea.”

According to KVH, TracVision products are satellite TV systems that provide tracking, reception and coverage needed for marine and land applications, everything from a family boating trip to a sports team traveling by bus. The products are used by boat owners, commercial vessel operators, RV users, emergency responders and charter bus passengers.

Said Kits van Heyningen, “As we contemplate such exciting prospects as big data analytics, multicasting content and the Internet of Things, we will continue to imagine, design, engineer and manufacture new systems that delight our customers.”
