PROVIDENCE – Colin P. Kane, chairman of the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, has offered his resignation to Gov. Gina M. Raimondo, who has accepted it, according to a statement from the governor’s office.
Kane, a founding partner at The Peregrine Group LLC, a real estate development and management company based in Rumford, will remain on the commission until a successor is named, according to the governor’s spokeswoman, Marie Aberger.
He was the founding chairman of the redevelopment commission, which is overseeing the marketing and sale of the 19 developable acres in Providence that once lay below Interstate 195, and which became available following the relocation of the highway.
“We asked for his continued advice and counsel, and he has agreed to stay on through the transition process,” Aberger said Thursday, in a statement.
“The governor is grateful for Colin’s dedicated service to the people of Rhode Island, which helped lay the groundwork for this project. We will have more details on what’s next for the commission in the coming days.”
