Karen Silva was recently appointed secretary of the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau board. Silva is the department chair of the Center for Sports, Entertainment and Event Management in the hospitality college at Johnson & Wales University, where she has worked since 1984. She holds a doctorate in education from Boston University and is a certified hospitality educator. •
