Keeping time with market

Fred Magnanimi was working as an investment banker in New York City in 2013 when his brother became ill and died from leukemia.

To honor his brother, who was poised to take over the family business of jewelry manufacturing, Magnanimi returned to Rhode Island and last August launched a new jewelry-design company in Cranston called Luca + Danni LLC, stemming from a project the brothers used to talk about working on together.

“My journey, so to speak, for being in this is because of his battle with cancer,” Magnanimi said.

Magnanimi says wrist watches are the genesis for Luca + Danni jewelry design. The new design has been well-received within the jewelry-selling community. Luca + Danni product is currently being sold by more than 700 retailers in the United States and Canada. To keep up with demand, Magnanimi employs more than 35 people. •
