Kent Hospital to conduct free skin cancer screenings

WARWICK – Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers; more than 3.5 million skin cancers are diagnosed each year in the United States. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early; if it progresses, however, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and death.

To assist members of the community in spotting potential skin cancers, Kent Hospital will offer free skin cancer screenings on Wednesday, May 25, from 6-7:30 p.m. in the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgery Center. The program is sponsored by the hospital’s cancer program and supported by the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Ellen Frankel and Dr. Michael Bharier, with their physician assistants, will conduct this year’s screening. Registration is required and space is limited; call (401) 737-7010, ext. 31857, and leave your name and phone number, by May 15.

To get to the Kent Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center, turn into the hospital’s main entrance and take first right just past the Emergency Department. Follow the main drive up to the main entrance of the hospital and the Ambulatory Surgery Center is straight ahead.
