Kent Rehabilitation Center receives three-year accreditation for excellence

WARWICK – The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities International has accredited the Rehabilitation Center at Kent Hospital for three years for its inpatient rehabilitation program for adults and stroke specialty program. CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services organizations.

“This accreditation … proves that the Rehabilitation Center at Kent Hospital is dedicated to making our rehabilitation services among the best in the region,” said Dr. Michael J. Dacey, Kent Hospital’s president and chief operating officer, in a news release. “This achievement is an indication of Kent’s dedication and commitment to improving the quality of the lives of our patients.”

A recent onsite survey, conducted by CARF-chosen experts, demonstrated that Kent Hospital conformed to a series of internationally recognized CARF standards. The survey report found that the Rehabilitation Center at Kent Hospital has strengths in such areas as rehabilitation leadership, dedicated and experienced staff, and education provided through the hospital’s monthly Stroke Support Group.

The Rehabilitation Center’s 20-bed inpatient program commonly treats strokes, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputations, arthritis, traumas, fractures and joint replacements, as well as general surgery recovery. Kent Hospital’s Outpatient Rehabilitation in East Greenwich offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program with physical, occupational and speech therapists.
