Kent to host Lung Cancer Awareness Day

WARWICK – As part of the national Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Kent Hospital is hosting a Lung Cancer Awareness Day on Nov. 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the hospital’s auditorium. Featured will be the latest tools to help quit smoking and details of the hospital’s early lung cancer detection program.
The hospital began its program of early lung detection in 2009 with the goal of identifying those at high risk for disease, in order to potentially find the disease at its early stages, when there are usually no symptoms and it is often more treatable.
Dr. Laurie Reeder, a cardiothoracic surgeon, and Pam Hill, chief dietitian, will talk about the changes the body can undergo while trying to quit smoking and the effects of lung cancer treatments on the body.
