PROVIDENCE – Dale K. Klatzker, president and CEO at The Providence Center, was awarded the Bronze Key Award by the Rhode Island Affiliate of the National Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence in late September.
The award is a national recognition granted by the council to an individual or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the field of substance abuse treatment and recovery and to a council affiliate.
The council reports it is the highest local award presented by affiliates.
“I am honored to have received this award,” Kaltzker said in a statement. “It is a reflection of the work done every day by the dedicated professionals at The Providence Center. It is exciting to be working with people who are committed to driving better services for Rhode Islanders and with a community who recognizes the importance of the services we provide.”
The Providence Center, a nonprofit founded in 1969, works to provide people with mental health and substance use services in their homes, schools and neighborhoods.
In the past year, the center has hired more than 160 people, created 58 new positions and added several programs including the state’s first recovery community center.
