PROVIDENCE – Silver Spoon Bakery in Providence garnered some national attention last week with its “TSA-Compliant Cupcake.”

The local bakery was featured in the Los Angeles Times for creating a $4 treat (with exactly 3 ounces of frosting and sold in clear, quart-size plastic bag) following the “Cupcakegate” incident last month when security agents confiscated a cupcake at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

Apparently, the questionable cupcake raised security concerns because it was in a jar and its “gel-like” frosting was in excess of the 3-ounce limit.

Silver Spoon’s TSA-Compliant Cupcake comes with a fake boarding pass - destination Las Vegas. Owner Kelly Colgan told the Los Angeles Times that she plans to test it at T.F. Green Airport.

Silver Spoon does not have a storefront; it delivers orders throughout Rhode Island.
