(November 2009) – Providence, RI – The CPA firm of Lefkowitz, Garfinkel, Champi and DeRienzo P.C. (LGC&D) was honored on Thursday with a Leading Women to the Top TM award at Leading Women of Southeastern New England’s 3rd Annual “Candid Conversations from the C-Suite.” LGC&D, through their Women Count initiative, was recognized in the Greatest Proven Impact category.
Leading Women’s “Candid Conversations from the C-Suite” provides a forum for accomplished women leaders in the community to share the challenges, triumphs and perspectives of their personal leadership journey. This year’s panel included Helena Foulkes, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, CVS Caremark; Sheri Southern, Senior Vice President Human Resources, GTECH; and Anne Nolan, President and CEO of Crossroads RI.

The Leading Women to the Top TM awards, which recognize companies’ internal women’s networks, included the categories Best Launch, Most Strategically Aligned with the Business, and Greatest Proven Impact. The Greatest Proven Impact award measures a company’s ability to advance women to senior level positions, and LGC&D has done just that. Women represent 30 percent of the Firm’s Principal group – 11 percent higher than the national average. In addition, 55 percent of the firm’s senior management team are women.

LGC&D is a regional accounting and business advisory firm that provides an integrated model of attest, tax and financial services to clients throughout New England. LGC&D formed its Women Count initiative to develop and retain the women in the firm by providing mentoring, networking and leadership opportunities to fuel their professional growth and to accelerate the rate of change within the firm. LGC&D has addressed the unique needs of women by focusing on enhancing relationships with, and providing professional services to, entrepreneurial women-owned and operated businesses. “This award is a validation that our culture is one that embraces change,” said Renee Aloisio, director of the firm’s internal operations. “We believe businesses owned and operated by women will grow exponentially over the next decade. Our goal is to be at the forefront of that groundswell and be a primary resource for the next generation of entrepreneurially minded women in the business community.”
