LGC+D LLP joining Citrin Cooperman

PROVIDENCE – Providence-based LGC+D LLP is joining Citrin Cooperman, one of the largest accounting firms in the nation, which is expanding its footprint in New England.
The New York-based company announced the deal on Wednesday. A company spokeswoman declined to disclose financial details related to the deal, but said local partners and staff would stay on in their respective positions, and that the company plans to grow the office.
LGC+D is in the process of transitioning the name, logo and brand to Citrin Cooperman, an effort that could run through the middle of this month.
“We are thrilled that LGC+D is joining Citrin Cooperman,” said Joel Cooperman, Citrin Cooperman’s CEO, in a prepared statement. “The addition of their dynamic, experienced team aligns well with our goal of continuing to focus our expansion with geographic markets stretching from Metro D.C. to Boston, and the increased skills that enhance value to our clients. The professionals at LGC+D offer the same holistic approach to clients as we do and understand how critical it is to stay rooted in their clients’ business and community through local involvement and hands-on attention.”
LGC+D, one of the state’s largest accounting firms, officially joined the company on Sept. 1, adding about 60 employees to Citrin Cooperman, according to an announcement on Wednesday.
Citrin Cooperman’s expansion into Rhode Island marks its third new office in the New England region this year. Inside Public Accounting, a newsletter published by The Platt Group, this year named the New York company the 21st largest accounting firm in the United States. Citrin Cooperman told Providence Business News it expects the new business to help grow 2016 revenue to total $230 million. The company originally projected 2016 revenue to total $200 million, according to its website.
LGC+D sales totaled $12.2 million in 2014, according to PBN research. The firm was named the 13th fastest-growing company in PBN’s 2016 Book of Lists, growing sales 20 percent from 2012 to 2014.
“Our clients and our people are our top priority,” said Richard DeRienzo, managing partner of LGC+D, in a statement. “By joining Citrin Cooperman, our clients gain access to additional resources, services and depth of experience over an expanded footprint. We’re excited to join a firm that shares our same values towards client service and investment in our professionals.”
Citrin Cooperman, a full-service CPA firm, employs approximately 800 people in the U.S. and in India. The company is an independent firm associated with Moore Stephens International Limited, a global accountancy and professional network headquartered in London. Joseph Tarasco, founder and CEO of Accountants Advisory Group LLC, consulted and assisted in brokering the deal between the two companies, according to the release.
