LIN TV Corp., a local multimedia company, recently announced the recipients of its 2013 Minority Scholarship and Training Program in both broadcast and digital media. Since the launch of the program in 1998, LIN Media has awarded more than $500,000 in scholarship funds to ambitious students interested in a wide spectrum of fields in or relating to broadcast television and digital media.

Cameron Edgeworth, a junior at the University of Alabama in Birmingham was awarded the broadcast media scholarship and Ronny Latimore, a junior at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan received the digital media scholarship.

“The success of LIN Media’s Minority Scholarship and Training Program is rooted in our company’s desire to nurture future leaders in broadcasting and digital media and promote diversity in the workplace,” said Vincent Sadusky, LIN Media’s president and chief executive officer. “Over the past 15 years, we have only strengthened our commitment and now many of our past recipients have successful careers within our company and throughout the industry. I congratulate Cameron and Ronny, who exemplify the qualities and traits we look for in our scholarship winners.”

Both recipients will begin paid internships at prominent media outlets this summer. In addition to the internships, both students will each receive a two-year scholarship for up to ten thousand dollars ($10,000) per year, which can be used towards tuition, fees, books, and room and board.
