Last week of free wintertime parking at rail stations

PROVIDENCE – This is the last week of the free wintertime parking promotion at the commuter rail stations in Warwick and North Kingstown, Gov. Lincoln D. Chafee and the R.I. Department of Transportation are reminding commuters.

Since winter storm Nemo, which hit Rhode Island in early February, parking at the Interlink at T.F. Green Airport and at Wickford Junction Station in North Kingstown has been free to allow commuters to head into Providence more easily.

The free parking promotion officially ends on Friday, March 29. Commuters utilizing the free parking will receive validated tickets allowing them to exit the parking garages at T.G. Green and Wickford at no charge.

Rail fares from Warwick and Wickford to Providence are $3 and $3.25, respectively, one-way. Fares from Warwick and Wickford to Boston’s South Station are $10.50 and $11, respectively.

After Friday, normal parking fees apply. Parking at T.F. Green costs $6.75 per day and parking at Wickford Junction costs $4 per day. The T.F. Green lot charges a surcharge of $30 for parking beyond 24 hours.
