WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The Rhode Island Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has named Tim Robey, senior vice president of Dwight Asset Management, and Cathy Edington, strategic account specialist for Cox Communications, as Man and Woman of the Year for their winning fundraising efforts in a 10-week competition.

Robey raised over $52,000 and Edington over $18,000 through online donations, social media, and events including golf outings and dances, during the competition.

Nineteen community leaders raised a total of over $232,000 over the 10 weeks.

The funds will be used by the society for research seeking cures and better therapies as well as to provide patient support.

“Even though there are winners, it is the collective total … that is truly amazing,” said Bill Koconis, the Rhode Island chapter’s executive director. “We cannot express enough how lucky we are to have such amazing volunteers associated with the LLS. We could not do any of this without them.”

LLS, headquartered in White Plains, N.Y., is a voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services.
