Lifespan hosts patient-safety symposium

PROVIDENCE – Lifespan will host its fifth-annual patient symposium, “Transforming Health Care: New Initiatives To Help Hospitals Become High Reliability Organizations,” on April 19 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Providence-Warwick Airport in Warwick.

Dr. Mark Chassin, president of the Joint Commission, is expected to discuss, “What Is High Reliability and Why Does Health Care Need It?”

Patricia Reid Ponte, senior vice president for Patient Care Services and chief nurse at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and executive director of Oncology Nursing and Clinical Services at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, is scheduled to talk about “Patient- and Family-Centered Care – Driving Design for Better Results.” •
